Agentic browser

Stoic Browser vs Opera Neon

Two agentic browsers with MCP access. One rents the models, one uses yours.

Checked 12 Oct 2026 · Opera Neon site

The short answer

The closest match on paper: both let outside agents drive the browser and both run scheduled tasks. Neon's agents run on models Opera provides for $19.90/month; Stoic Browser uses your own CLIs and a one-time license, and adds per-product logins and recorded automations.

  • Neon Standard is $19.90/month for agents, research and model choice; Stoic Browser Pro is $29 once
  • Both expose the browser to outside agents over MCP; Neon's connector is on its free plan too
  • Neon has an ad blocker, free VPN and extensions; Stoic Browser has none of those
  • Stoic Browser runs on Linux and keeps its data in one local file

What each one is

Stoic Browser

Stoic Browser is a desktop browser for founders who run more than one product. Each product gets a workspace with its own logins, your installed coding agents (Claude Code, Codex and 14 more) work inside those workspaces, outside agents can drive them over MCP, and recorded chores replay on a schedule. Free for 2 workspaces; Pro is $29 once.

Opera Neon

Opera Neon is Opera's agentic browser for Windows and macOS. The free plan includes the browser, basic Neon Chat, an ad blocker, a free VPN, and a Browser CLI and MCP connector for plugging in your own agents. Standard, at $19.90/month, adds Neon's agents that act on the web, deep research, scheduled tasks, long memory and models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google.

Which to choose

Choose Stoic Browser if

  • You'd rather pay once than $19.90 every month
  • You already have Claude Code, Codex or a local model
  • Each product needs its own logins, and each MCP connection should only see some of them
  • You need Linux

Choose Opera Neon if

  • You want hosted frontier models included, with no CLI to install
  • You want deep research, image and code generation in the browser
  • You want an ad blocker, VPN and extensions built in

Questions

Something missing? Write to hello@stoicsoft.com.

Do both browsers work with Claude Code over MCP?

Yes. Opera lists an MCP connector and Browser CLI on every Neon plan. Stoic Browser's MCP access writes a config for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, OpenCode, Claude Desktop or VS Code, with a preset for what the connection may do, the workspaces it may use, and a credential that expires.

Which is cheaper over a year?

Neon Standard is $19.90 a month, about $239 a year. Stoic Browser Pro is $29 once for one device, with 12 months of updates, and the free plan covers 2 workspaces. Your coding CLI or model plan is a separate cost either way if you use one.

Free for 2 workspaces. No account needed. macOS, Windows and Linux.
